He was determined to figure out how to be happy.
First, Josh tried religion. He tried simply attending church services. When that did nothing for him, he quit going. He tried education. He tried being better. He tried partying. No matter what, Josh didn’t feel happy– only empty.
Then one day, he met a group of students who seemed different than everyone else. They seemed joyful. Josh asked them why– and they said Jesus Christ.
So Josh started researching Christianity. And although he was skeptical at first, and it took some time…eventually, he was awestruck by the overwhelming evidence. He fought back his pride, and accepted Jesus as a Savior.
Eventually, Josh McDowell used his research to write a book called Evidence that Demands a Verdict, which is now considered to be one of the most influential books about Christianity.
As Michelle pointed out in today’s podcast, the choice is ours if we want to work against Him, or follow God and give Him the glory. But in the end, just as Josh was, we will all be awestruck by God and His power and glory.
Today’s Challenge
Have you ever accepted Jesus as Savior? Have you ever let yourself be awestruck by God, and chosen to follow Him? Or, perhaps you became a Christian years ago, but like Jonah you’ve been running from Him instead of staying close. Either way, get on your knees today. God desires a relationship with you through His son Jesus.
Memory Verse
Because, if you confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved. -Romans 10:19
