Word of the Day Espresso Shot
“You’re home!”
Shelby reached up to hug the neck of her tall, brooding fireman— who was finally home from his 48 hour shift.
She hugged him and they swayed for a minute, saying nothing. Shelby knew from scattered texts during his shift that he had worked a fire along with several bad medical calls on the shift.
“You’re so brave,” she told him, kissing him on the cheek and stepping away to grab the fussy baby.
Shelby’s husband looked at his tired wife and their baby, who had been fighting a bad sickness all week.
"You are the brave one,” he told her simply. His words filled up Shelby’s heart, and her eyes filled with tears.
She wasn’t fighting fires or helping people with emergencies. But in her heart, she knew her husband’s words were true. Staying up all night alone with a sick baby, persevering, and keeping a positive attitude felt like some of the hardest work she had ever done. And she was so thankful to God for helping her be brave.

Going Deeper than a Venti
As Tricia said in today’s podcast, Rahab is an excellent example of courage and faith.
But sometimes, it’s easy to forget that people in Bible stories were simply humans, like us.
To remind yourself of Rahab’s humanity, check out this powerful first-person narrative. It not only showcases this unlikely hero, but it’s a great reminder that, no matter what your past, if you dedicate your life to God, He can use you for amazing things.
