Word of the Day Espresso Shot
Word of the Day: Disciple
There are two ways to pour out water from a container— and they represent two types of disciples.
The first would be the obvious way— to simply pour the water out of the container until the container is empty.
That represents those who get temporary fixes from God’s word— only on Sunday mornings, for instance— and then throughout the week, serve others through their own strength.
This method works for a short time. But once all the “water” is poured out, the container is empty. The person feels drained and dry.
But there is another way to get water from that container. And that would be the second method:
Using an outside water source to fill up that container so completely that it overflows onto everything around it— never emptying but instead constantly being filled by the outside source.
As disciples of Jesus, if we pour out onto others using our own strength, we will ultimately drain dry.
But if we constantly fill our life so full of God— through His Word, church, prayer, and fellowship with others— then the overflow will spill onto those around us.
Today’s Challenge
Are you filling your spirit with God and His word every day, throughout the day? Don’t let yourself spiritually starve and lose your ability to pour onto others.
Memory Verse
"May the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace as you trust in him, so that you may overflow with hope by the power of the Holy Spirit.” Romans 15:13

Going Deeper than a Venti
The passages about Jesus being tempted in the wilderness are compelling and important.
Reading them begs the question— what can we learn about our own temptations by studying Jesus’?
