Word of the Day Espresso Shot
Word of the Day: Endure
Three years of development— followed by rejection after rejection.
That’s the origin story of the Leatherman multi- tool.
Tim Leatherman first thought of the ideas for the pliers-based tool when he was on a trip with his wife. He started sketching ideas, spent three years creating a prototype, and then began pitching his idea to companies.
Letter after letter arrived in the mail in response— and no one liked Tim’s idea. People were confused by the concept, skeptical of its usefulness, or just generally disinterested.
Still, Tim persisted.
And finally, after three years of development and another three years of rejection, Tim received a small contract to sell his tool in stores— and it took off in popularity.
Stories like Tim’s— which showcase endurance— are fascinating and inspiring. Why?
Well, because they aren’t typical. Every human knows how difficult it can be to endure. When we’re faced with obstacles and rejection, it is much easier and more natural to back down and give up than to charge forward.
But unlike us, God’s very nature is to endure at all times.Even though we reject Him, and do things that disobey and hurt Him, He endures. This isn’t difficult for Him as it is for us— instead, endurance is God’s nature and character. He never changes, never gives up, and never quits. And that includes a love for us that never ends.
Today’s Challenge
In today’s podcast Tricia mentioned her grandma’s inspiring ability to praise God even through medical trials. Let’s follow that example today and praise God, no matter what is going on in our lives. Turn on some praise music, lift your hands, and sing to Him, thanking Him for His enduring love!
Memory Verse
“Give thanks to the LORD, for He is good, His love endures forever.” Psalm 118:1
