Welcome to the Daily Bible Podcast Coffee Club!
We’re Tricia and Michelle, two friends inviting you to join us in reading through the Bible chronologically this year, using the NLT One Year Bible. These daily emails are meant to be a cozy companion to your morning coffee and the Daily Bible Podcast.

Word of the Day Espresso Shot
Word of the Day: Look
144.
That’s the average number of times a person looks at their smart phone per day.
If there’s anything that has our attention these days, it’s the black rectangle of glass on our phones.
We look to our phones for relationship— reading texts and responding to them.
We look to our phones for comfort— googling answers to questions.
We look to our phones to be prepared— checking on the weather forecast.
There’s nothing inherently wrong with checking those things.
But it’s crucial that we ask ourselves—to what— or whom— do we look to first?
The people we text and call on our phones— they will let us down and hurt our feelings.
The reassurance we seek through googled answers— it will only be temporary.
And, well, we all know how a weather forecast can change in only a couple of hours.
When we need relationship— let’s look to God and remember that He is always with us.
When we crave comfort—let’s look to God and ask Him to comfort our hearts.
When we need to be prepared for an unknown future— let’s look to God and trust in His sovereignty.
Today’s Challenge
As you reach for your phone today, consider why. Pray and ask God to help you put Him first and look to Him first.
Memory Verse
“This is what the Sovereign LORD, the Holy One of Israel, says: “Only in returning to me and resting in me will you be saved. In quietness and confidence is your strength. But you would have none of it.” Isaiah 30:15
