Word of the Day: Persistence
“Will you marry me?” Gabe looked up from his kneeling position into the eyes of the woman he loved.
Elizabeth looked back at him, panic in her eyes, nervously pushing her brown bangs out of her eyes.
“No, Gabe, no, please stand up. This is too fast. We need to slow down.”
A year later, Gabe asked again. Elizabeth looked panicked again. There were health issues going on with her parents, and she wasn’t sure if she could plan a wedding while she helped take care of them.
Three full years later, Elizabeth and Gabe stood in front of a crowd, holding hands. Elizabeth held up a piece of paper— reading off the vows she wrote to the man she had loved for so long.
“Gabe. there are many wonderful things about you. But today, the thing I’m most thankful for is your persistence. You had to ask me many times to marry you. And when I said no because I was scared and unsure, you were always understanding and respectful. Thank you.”
Today’s Challenge
If you’ve been a Christian very long, you’ve no doubt heard about many of God’s attributes— that He’s loving, kind, and faithful. But the reminder from Michelle in today’s podcast that God is also persistent is a good one. He pursues us relentlessly—- never forcing Himself on us, but continuing to be persistent in loving us. How grateful we are for that.
Memory Verse
"I have loved you with an everlasting love; therefore I have continued my faithfulness to you.” Jeremiah 31:3
