Word of the Day Espresso Shot
Word of the Day: Praise
Samantha pressed herself against the driver’s seat and let the tears flow.
It had been 24 hours since she found out about her husband’s affair. Samantha felt like her life and her heart had been smashed with a hammer.
In her mind, she kept replaying her husband’s response when she confronted him— the horrible, scathing accusations he had thrown back at her in response, blaming Samantha for his heartless actions.
All at once, Samantha stopped herself. She reached over and turned on the radio— searching for anything that would help her down out her racing thoughts.
Immediately the car filled with the music of a worship song—Praise by Elevation Worship.
I'll praise in the valley
Praise on the mountain
I'll praise when I'm sure
Praise when I'm doubtingI'll praise when outnumbered
Praise when surrounded
'Cause praise is the water
My enemies drown in
Samantha turned up the volume— and in an act of defiant hope, she joined in singing with the chorus:
As long as I'm breathing
I've got a reason toPraise the Lord
Oh, my soul
Praise the Lord
Oh, my soul
Her circumstance didn’t change. Her heart was still broken. But in that moment, she felt that true peace that passes understanding.
Today’s Challenge
As Michelle and Tricia mentioned in today’s podcast, praise is a weapon. It’s a weapon against the darkness, depression, and hopelessness of this world. Even if you don’t feel like praising today— sing to the Lord anyway. Invite in the peace that comes from praising God during the storm.
Memory Verse
Praise God in His sanctuary; praise Him in His mighty heavens. Praise Him for His acts of power, praise Him for His surpassing greatness. Psalm 150:1-2

Going Deeper than a Venti: Reflection
Let’s zero in on something Tricia pointed out in today’s podcast… Psalm 147:4-6:
“He heals the brokenhearted and bandages their wounds. He counts the stars and calls them all by name. How great is our Lord! His power is absolute! His understanding is beyond comprehension!”
The fact that we serve a God who in the details (healing the brokenhearted) but also is sovereign in the expanse (counts the stars) is incredible and comforting.
What does that mean for our everyday life?
