Word of the Day: Disobedience
She knew it wasn’t right.
But it was the same story every time. She would vow to do better. Swear it would never happen again. And then…night would come. Her anxiety and regret would set in. And in a desperate search for comfort, Janice would retreat to the pantry. She would stuff her face in a desperate binge, feeling like she was living outside of her body.
She knew food was an idol for her. She knew she was addicted to the binges and using it, instead of God, to fill empty spaces in her life.
But it wasn’t until one day while sitting in church, listening to a sermon about obeying God’s commands that she realized what her food issue was: sin. Disobedience.
With tears rolling down her face during the altar call, Janice walked forward and started talking to the pastor, confessing her issue. He prayed with her and gave her information for professional counseling. And as Janice walked out of church that day, she felt more free than she had in a long time. The weight of disobedience was lifted.
Today’s Challenge
If you have disobedience in your life, you are probably aware of it. Maybe it doesn’t seem like a “big deal” compared to the sins of other people. But any disobedience to God will cause damage. Repent and turn away. Seek professional help through your church or a counselor. God wants to heal and redeem— but he won’t force that on you. You have to take the first step and repent.
Memory Verse
In him we have redemption through his blood, the forgiveness of our trespasses, according to the riches of his grace. Ephesians 1:7

Going Deeper than a Venti: Reflection and Journal Prompt
“'At seventeen, I found myself pregnant and abandoned by my boyfriend, and that’s when I turned to God. I prayed, ‘God, I have screwed up big time. If you can do anything with my life please do.’”
As you heard on today’s podcast, Tricia Goyer talked about how God redeemed her disobedience in her teens. If you’ve never heard Tricia’s full testimony, take some time today to read it. It’s a powerful account of how God will be faithful if we repent and turn to Him, and how God can use anyone’s story and make it beautiful.
