Word of the Day: Hope

A bride.

As a child, every time she played dress-up, Hannah would reach for the puffy white bridal gown and slip the long veil over her head.

As Hannah got older, her hope to get married only grew.

She met a handsome man in her early 20s, and got engaged about eight months later.

Hannah had picked out a white dress and a long veil, similar to the one she wore as a child.

But then, one day, that handsome man looked at Hannah and shook his head. He was backing out of the engagement.

As Hannah pulled the diamond ring off her finger and handed it back to her former fiancé, she felt her heart sink deeper than it ever had before.

That night, laying in her bed, her tears fell fast and hard as she prayed out loud.

“God, I don’t understand. I’ve hoped for marriage my whole life. What am I supposed to hope for now.”

That’s when a phrase gently pressed upon her heart, something she had never thought of before, something she wondered if was coming from God Himself.

It’s time to find your hope in Me.

Today’s Challenge

Where do you find your hope? Is it in marriage? Maybe in your children? While there is nothing wrong with hoping for those things, it’s crucial that we find our ultimate hope only in God— the only One who will never let us down. Pray that God strengthens your heart to make Him your source of hope.

Memory Verse

Psalm 130:5-7 - "I wait for the LORD, my whole being waits, and in his word I put my hope. I wait for the Lord more than watchmen wait for the morning, more than watchmen wait for the morning. Israel, put your hope in the LORD, for with the LORD is unfailing love and with him is full redemption."
