Word of the Day: Wash
When she wrote a song called Clean, she thought it was a song about a friend who had experienced sexual abuse. But she didn’t know that the song would end up being about her, too.
Natalie Grant had been a Christian singer for almost two decades. Not long after she wrote the song Clean, doctors discovered tumors on her thyroid. Natalie’s devastation was more than just about the cancer. The necessary surgery to remove the tumors would likely change, or at the very least radically alter, her singing voice.
In other words— her ministry would possibly be over.
With fear but also an attitude of full surrender, Natalie went into surgery. When it was all over, she hesitantly started to try to sing.
It was a full miracle. Her voice was OK. More than OK, actually. An article in the Tennessean describes the rest:
“…Two weeks after she was declared clean of cancer, her song “Clean” earned the Grammy nomination….hearing the words that she was clean of cancer, gave the song a whole new meaning. “I thought, ‘I’ll never sing that song in the same way,’ ” Grant recalled.”
Clean lyrics:
I see shattered
You see whole
I see broken
But You see beautiful
And You're helping me to believe
You're restoring me piece by pieceThere's nothing too dirty
That You can't make worthy
You wash me in mercy
I am clean
There's nothing too dirty
That You can't make worthy
You wash me in mercy
I am cleanWhat was dead now lives again
My heart's beating, beating inside my chest
Oh I'm coming alive with joy and destiny
'Cause You're restoring me piece by pieceThere's nothing too dirty
That You can't make worthy
You wash me in mercy
I am clean
There's nothing too dirty
That You can't make worthy
You wash me in mercy
I am cleanWashed in the blood of Your sacrifice
Your blood flowed red and made me white
My dirty rags are purified
I am clean

Memory Verse
"Come now, and let us reason together," Says the Lord, "Though your sins are like scarlet, they shall be as white as snow; though they are red like crimson they shall be as wool." Romans 8:14-15
