Word of the Day: Because
The word “because” is in the Bible about a thousand times— and we have a lot to learn from many of those instances.
As Michelle mentioned in today’s podcast, in our reading today, God used “because” to remind the Israelites that He had warned them.
It’s worth exploring… what can we glean from the other instances of “because” in the Bible?1
1 Peter 5:7- “Cast all your anxiety on him because he cares for you.
Exodus 1:21- “Because the midwives feared God, he gave them families of their own.”
Psalm 116:1-2- “I love the Lord, for he heard my voice; he heard my cry for mercy. Because he turned his ear to me, I will call on him as long as I live.”
Isaiah 26:3 “You will keep in perfect peace those whose minds are steadfast, because they trust in you.”
John 15:3, “You are already clean because of the word I have spoken to you.”
1 John 4:8 “Whoever does not love does not know God, because God is love.”
Ephesians 5:15-16 “Be very careful then, how you live— not as unwise but as wise, making the most of every opportunity, because the days are evil.”
When we notice “because” in the Bible, it helps us know why. Why did God choose to save us through Jesus? Why should we trust God? Why does knowing God ease our anxiety and fear?

Going Deeper than a Venti: Reflection
Let’s be honest. Sometimes, reading the Old Testament is strange, confusing, and even tiring.
But did you know that digging into God’s word daily has several proven benefits, even if you’re not reading the easier-to-digest passages?
One study found something called the “Power of Four:” That reading the Bible at least four times a week results in several amazing benefits:
